Philadelphia Eagles 2011 Schedule: Bye Week Record Should Be Good

Read More: Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles 2011 NFL schedule was released on Tuesday night, giving Eagles fans something to look forward to next season as long as the NFL lockout ends in time for the season to begin on time.

The first few games might be a bit difficult as the Eagles try to get rid of their opening day jitters on the road against the St. Louis Rams before heading down South to visit the Atlanta Falcons for NBC’s Sunday Night Football on Sept. 18 before returning home to host the New York Giants the following week.

After those first few weeks, however, the Eagles play the 49ers at home before going on the road to play the Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins — both of which should be winnable — before their Week 7 bye.

The second half of the schedule features four primetime games against the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Giants and Seahawks before ending the regular season at home against the Redskins.

Week 1: Sun, Sept. 11 at St. Louis Rams — FOX, 1 p.m.
Week 2: Sun, Sept. 18 at Atlanta Falcons — NBC, 8:20 p.m.

Philadelphia Eagles 2011 Strength Of Schedule Is Average

Read More: Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles

If you haven’t seen the full Philadelphia Eagles 2011 schedule, we’ve got it right here. If you have, the next question is obviously, “how tough is it?”

That’s probably tougher to figure out this year than any other given that we haven’t even had free agency yet. So we really don’t know what a lot of these teams are going to look like come September. However, if we go on 2010 records, the Eagles’ strength of schedule is pretty average.

In fact, they’re tied for 15th among the 32 NFL clubs with an opponents’ winning percentage of .504.

The toughest schedules in the league fall to the two worst teams in the league last year, Carolina and Buffalo. Their opponent’s winning percentages are .555 and .535 respectively. Amongst the contenders, the Jets, Colts & Chiefs have the toughest road with opponents winning 52% of their games in 2010.

The “easiest” schedules in the league go to San Francisco, Baltimore & Arizona. The NFC West teams all have relatively easy schedules due to the fact that ya know… they get to play each other six times.

What are your opinions.

Philadelphia Eagles schedule analysis

Breakdown: For a team that won the NFC East last season, the Philadelphia Eagles definitely received a nice break from the schedule-makers. Yes, Philadelphia does open the season with two road games (against the St. Louis Rams and Atlanta Falcons) before meeting the New York Giants at home. But they also get three straight contests against teams that didn’t make the playoffs before facing the Dallas Cowboys at home after the bye week. Don’t think that Eagles head coach Andy Reid isn’t grateful for that bit of good fortune.

Even the Eagles’ toughest games will come on their home turf. That’s where they’ll see the Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and New York Jets. Again, will somebody please explain that turn of events to me?

Complaint department: November is going to be the hardest month for Philadelphia. It opens with the Bears and Arizona Cardinals before traveling to face the Giants in New York. The Eagles return to host New England on Nov. 27. If the Eagles have any gripes about their schedule, they can air them then.

Welcome back: It won’t take much to hype the Eagles’ Sunday night game against the Falcons. We all know that Michael Vick’s return to Atlanta will generate plenty of buzz from both supporters and haters alike. Even though that franchise has found another Pro Bowl quarterback in Matt Ryan — while also making the playoffs in two of the three seasons since Vick’s involvement in a dog fighting scandal led to the team dumping him — this game will be all about one thing: closure.
