Philadelphia Eagles’ DeSean Jackson takes the…

No. 10 is back.

DeSean Jackson stepped on the practice fields today at Philadelphia Eagles training camp at Lehigh University for the first time this year after ending his holdout earlier in the week. Jackson didn’t have to wait long for the fans to react; they roared in delight as he hauled in pass after pass thrown to him.

“It’s a lot of fun to be back,” said Jackson, who certainly looked as if he was enjoying himself. “My legs are feeling good. I’m picking everything up and putting it all together. I have to keep working hard.”

Jackson said improvement was on his mind constantly.

“Anything I can do to better myself to a higher level than last year
that’s what I’ll focus on;  I’m just here to get better every day,”
Jackson said.

In other news defensive tackle Mike Patterson, who suffered an AVM in his brain Aug. 3 that led to a seizure, was back at practice running very light drills with the players on the Physically Unable to Perform list. He said he felt “good”.

The Eagles signed offensive tackles Joe Toledo, a fourth-round draft pick of Miami in 2006, and rookie free agent Spencer Johnson, a college teammate of Birds’ third-round pick cornerback Curtis Marsh at Utah State.

The Birds released defensive tackles Charles Noonan and Brandon Collier and quarterback Jarrod Johnson.

Asante Samuel Returns To Philadephia Eagles…

Read More: Asante Samuel (CB – PHI), Nnamdi Asomugha (CB – PHI), Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (CB – PHI), Philadelphia Eagles

Asante Samuel joined training camp for the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. Samuel had been sitting out training camp for an excused personal issue. Of course, with the recent signings of Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, rumors have swirled that Samuel is now on the Eagles’ trading block.

Samuel is still an Eagle for now, however, entering the fourth-year of a six-year contract worth $57 million. He may participate in Monday afternoon practice following a physical, in which case he would join Rodgers-Cromartie on the field while Asomugha sits.

Samuel has been outspoken, saying through his agent that he would like to stay in Philadelphia. In a increasingly pass-happy league it certainly doesn’t hurt to have a stacked secondary. Still, the team may have a difficult time justifying the salaries due to three elite corners.

Asante Samuel reports to Philadelphia Eagles…

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel has reported to training camp at Lehigh University.

The veteran, who had been excused from practice for personal reasons, will likely join the team for this afternoon’s 2:45 practice.

Samuel’s situation with the Eagles is the subject of intense speculation after the Eagles added Pro Bowl cornerbacks Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

The Eagles say they can keep all three cornerbacks but speculation that Samuel could be traded is rampant.

Samuel may address the press after the afternoon walkthrough.

Defense Looking Strong For ArenaBowl XXII Champs

February 25, 2011 – Arena Football League (AFL) Philadelphia Soul

PHILADELPHIA – Another solid practice by the Philadelphia Soul as the ArenaBowl XXII champions conclude the first week of practices during the 2011 Training Camp at the Philadelphia Eagles’ NovaCare Complex in South Philadelphia. One area that has all of the coaching staff pleased is the defense. The secondary consists of veteran names like: Mike Brown, Tanner Varner, Chris Martin, James Sadler and Antonio Malone. While names like Derek Pegues and Kent Richardson have also looked impressive.

FRIDAY NIGHT BRIGHT-S: Defensive lineman Callahan Bright (6-1, 365, Shaw) has made his presence felt everyday in training camp. Bright has consistently pushed through to the offensive backfield and takes on the responsibility of firing-up the defense on every down that he is on the field. In 2010, he played for the Tulsa Talons after playing briefly with the Jacksonville Sharks earlier in the season. At Shaw University, Bright tallied 48 tackles, seven and a half tackles for a loss, and half a sack. Coming out of high school on National Signing Day, he was ranked No. 14 overall and No. 2 at defensive back.

DID YOU KNOW? Syvelle Newton (6-6, 210, South Carolina) played with his brother, Cam Newton (not that Cam Newton), with the Georgia Force for eight games in 2008. He also played for Coach Steve Spurrier during his collegiate career. QUOTE OF THE DAY: “I really like how this team as come together so quickly.
